Tile system for roof pattern

Hi there,

I’m introducing myself, I’m Illustrator and working in 2D/3D illustration and animation, I’m using Substance Painter for texturing and I’ve discovered Instamat which is a great texturing tool.

I Intend to replace the Substance suite but I have to rebuild my assets library and here is my biggest issue:

Up to know I didn’t found the good tiling node to replace the Substance Tile_sampler for roofs or special wall or any repetitive structure based on several sources. I send a picture to better explain my problem, I’m almost sure I missed something and there’s a simple solution

Thank you all

Hello @Deledda and welcome to the community.

Try “Guided Scatter” if you need e.g. mask, rotation and vector inputs, “Tile Scatter” if you need less functionallity. The “Tile” node is supposed to be a light-weight Tile node for rather simple tiling.

Hope that helps!

Hi,
Thank you for your answer, in the mean time I found this node . At the first glance it works but it is less powerful than the Tile_Sampler, first because you’ve to blend 2 nodes to get the same result. I’ll try the Guided scatter now

Hi @Deledda,

Great you found it! Make sure to set it up nicely, so one Tile Scatter should be enough for what you want to achieve.

Those are the settings for the example:

Thanks!
