Is there a way to paint texture in Canvas mode?

Hi! I just found out about this app yesterday and have been experimenting with it.
I’ve watched some of the tutorials on the official YouTube channel, and I understand that you can expose attributes to use in the layer mode.

But I was wondering — is there a way to paint in the node graph mode?
I noticed there’s a mesh mask painting node that lets me paint, but it doesn’t seem to show up on the mesh.

Is this kind of feature supported, or is InstaMAT not designed for that kind of workflow?
(I’m looking for something similar to Mari’s node-based workflow.)

Thanks a lot!

Hello @davyli and welcome to our community!

The Mesh Mask Painting is indeed what you’d want to use, although the workflow is a bit tricky.

You’d need to input a preview mesh like the Bevel Cube and preview it in the viewport to get accurate results.

Here is a small setup on how this could work:

You’d also need to add all channels that you want to paint in the brush settings:

For the brush, you can use every noise or grunge from the library or our own.

Hope that helps.

Thanks!

thank you for the reply, I’ll try it
