I recently starting using InstaMAT and the Blender plugin, and I’m experiencing an issue with my input texture maps. I’ve built a graph that takes some image textures as inputs, with the idea that I could create multiple instances of the graph in Blender and use different input textures for each one.
The graph works fine in InstaMAT, and in Blender with the default texture inputs. But as soon as I replace the instance’s input texture in Blender using the InstaMAT plugin, the base color texture appears blown out, like it’s being processed as Linear instead of sRGB. The other texture inputs don’t have this issue, only the base color (presumably because the other inputs are supposed to be processed as Linear).
Here’s a screenshot of my graph, and the material in Blender before and after swapping out the texture input in the instance setting.
All the input nodes are set to the correct color space, as far as I can tell. I’m able to fix the issue by adding a “Colorspace Conversion Linear” node to the graph for the base color input, and changing that node’s conversion setting to “sRGB to Linear”. But then the material looks wrong in InstaMAT. Is this a bug with the Blender plugin?
Thank you for your detailed post and screenshots. I will pass this along internally so that we can further investigate the behavior with InstaMAT for Blender.
Hi there @Pixby , sorry for the delay getting back to you. I’m happy to share my InstaMAT package for testing. Just let me know how you would like me to share the file.
@robstien, I forgot to mention that to share the package with the images included, it must be cooked first. This will gather all of the dependencies and save them into the cooked package so that it’s easier to share. Could you please provide a cooked version?
To export a cooked version you can do so from File > Export Cooked Project. Please make sure to disable Prevent opening the package from the Export Cooked Project dialog so that we’ll be able to open it.
@Pixby Hi again, and sorry for the slow reply - I was out of town on vacation for the last two weeks.
I tried uploading the cooked project file, but it exceeds the file size limit, and I can’t figure out how to send a DM on this forum. Is there an email address or somewhere else where I could send the file?
