Wayland support on linux

Wayland support for Instamat on Linux

I have been running Instamat for a few weeks on Fedora KDE 44 which ships with wayland by default and has dropped X11 support for a while now. It seems that Instamat works fine with Wayland more or less but there are some bugs that really make the experience not fun. One big issue that I encountered is that the color picker tool when using gradient map node doesnt work as the screen goes black.

I had to manually install plasma-workspace-x11 to switch to x11 at login screen and get Instamat to work. Unfortunately, this is the only way to get things working so far and it is a little problematic considering that wayland is the default for most other applications on linux these days.

It would be really great if the devs could offer ways to fix this issue in Wayland alone, as the entire linux ecosystem is rapidly adopting Wayland and gradually abandoning X11. Having to switch sessions to a different compositor just to run one application is a bit inconvenient.

I request the team to look into the matter and see if something can be done about it.

PS: Also, Instamat’s bottom right button that is supposed to tell us what percentage of GPU is being used, tells me that I have 4096 mb of memory total in my Radeon RX 6600 GPU. This is inaccurate. The Radeon RX6600 has 8GB of VRAM. Something is wrong with this too.
